Daniel Michalik is the founder of DMFD, a New York City firm creating furniture and objects using environmentally responsible manufacturing methods and materials. Daniel received his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in the Department of Furniture Design, and he currently teaches Product Design at Parsons The New School for Design. He exhibits internationally, and his work is in the Smithsonian's permanent collection. His client list includes Mario Batali, L'Oreal, Swarovski, and Jean-George Vongerichten, and his designs have appeared in The New York Times, Dwell, Taschen Books, I.D., Wallpaper, American Craft, as well as on the Sundance Channel and HGTV. Daniel recently travelled to Portugal on the invitation of The Portuguese Cork Council to research the agriculture and industry of cork, resulting in a series of articles and photo galleries published in Core 77.
